The Work of the Spirit; Daily Devotions for the Easter Season - May 1, 2018

The Work of the Spirit
Acts 19:1-10
Key Verse: “They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit Acts 19:2b.”

We believe in a Triune God. We believe in on God who is three; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Jesus tells us the Spirit will remain with us. Jesus did not be leave us alone. But we don't know how to think about the Spirit in this world. We believe that it is the Spirit at work going before, in previent grace. The Spirit moves us to conviction and draws us into relationship with Christ. The Spirit sanctifies us and daily allows us to be made Holy. The Spirit guides and directs us. But, we act as if we are on our own, pawing blindly in the dark, trying to find our way through this life. We forget we have one who is here with us. The Spirit is the light that will shine on our path. We simply need to remember that the work of the Spirit is in and through us, guiding and directing us throughout our days. We have no excuse, we are not like the Ephesians who had not yet heard of Spirit. We know, we understand we simply need to trust and rely on the Spirit to work in us daily.

Prayer:
Oh, sweet Spirit, come. I need you. Through your strength and your power, light my way. Guide me today, into being the holy person God is calling me to be. Help me to rely on you not only today, but each day. Teach me to lean on you, to hear your voice and pay attention to your gentle hand as you lead in the ways I should go. Come Holy Spirit, I need you! Amen
