Journalling Toward the Cross: Third Week in Lent, March 5th -10th

Thought for the Week:
What does it mean when we have a hard time trusting, believing, having faith in God?

Day 1:  Exodus 17:1-7
Have you ever been angry with God because of the things going on in your life?
In what ways are you thirsty in your life?
Have you ever gotten to a point in your life where you wondered if God was with you?
How has God shown to be there even when you struggled to see God there

Day 2:  Psalm 95
In what ways can you “sing” for joy because of what God has done in your life?
Give praise to God for the ways God has worked in your life.
Do those past times help you to trust him in the present and at those times when it is hard to trust him?

Day 3:  Romans 5:1-11
In what ways have you “suffered” in your life?
Has God “redeemed” the dark places of your life, using them to do good things in your life and the lives of those around you?
When you are in the dark places, the places have suffered and are painful, do you find it harder to trust God?
What does it say to you that Jesus is still reaching out to you even when you find it hard to trust God and even when God seems to be far away?
What does it mean to find peace in God through Christ in your life?

Day 4:  John 4:5-42
Do  you know what it feel like to be alone? To feel like you need to avoid others, or that others are avoiding you?
Have you ever felt on the outside like this woman?
How did Jesus bring her from unbelief into belief?
What did this woman do with her new found faith?
How does her faith transform her life?
How does God reach out to you and help you to have faith?
What have you done with that faith recently?
How is your faith transforming your life?
