Manna for Today: Psalm 47

Psalm 47:1-9

Key Verses:47:1,6

“Clap your hands, all you people!

Shout joyfully to God with a joyous shout! Sing praises to God! Sing praises! Sing praises to our king! Sing praises.” CEB

Sing, shout, clap, make a joyful noise! Let us rejoice, let us dance and sing. Let us take a moment to revel in all that is good, all that is beautiful, all that can make us smile. So much in our lives draws our attention to what is wrong, to what is hurting what is broke. Let us stop, let us take a moment to see the beauty, to experience the joy, to laugh, to smile, to remember in it all God is good. The darkness, the brokeness the hurting and the pain swirl around, with 65 mile house winds like the hurricane which just passed up the East Coast. But God is still good. God is at work in this world, bringing righteousness, salvation and redemption. Each moment of redemption deserves a song. Whenever the light conquers the darkness we should dance. Shout to God. Clap. Let the world know that there is joy and beauty in it all. Let us remember who God is and how much in our life is good because of God’s grace and forgiveness.

Thing to Think on

Name the beautiful, good, joyful things in your life?

What are you thankful for today?

Take time to thank God for all these things.

Find a song of praise, make it your song for the day. Play it or sing it several times throughout the day.

A Prayer for Today

Lord God, you are wonderful. You bring so much joy into my life. So much that is good in my life is because of you. I know that all that makes me smile, any place or moment of beauty I find in my life is because of you. Thank you. You bring forgiveness into my life. You shine your light in the dark places. I am thankful for who you are and all that you. I give you honor and praise. Thank you! - Amen
